The Ryzen Pro series was initially launched last year, making its debut on the HP EliteBook 705 G5 notebook. For the second-generation range, AMD has unveiled the Ryzen 7 Pro 3700U, Ryzen 5 Pro 3500U, Ryzen 3 Pro 3300U, and the Athlon Pro 300U. AMD says the 12nm-based Ryzen Pro 3000 range of CPUs provides a 16% multi-thread processor performance increase compared to Intel’s equal offering. Saeid Moshkelani, Senior Vice President and General Manager for Client Compute at AMD, said: “Modern PC users expect the experience between professional and personal to be imperceptible, and business notebook users want to utilize the latest modern features including 3D modeling, video editing, multi-display setups while multitasking securely, to get more done. “With AMD Ryzen PRO and Athlon PRO mobile processors, AMD delivers the right performance, features, and choice to OEMs and commercial users, combined with the productivity, protection, and professional features needed to ensure seamless deployment throughout an organization.”
Availability
As class-leading mobile chipsets, the Ryzen Pro 3000 series second generation will offer superior battery life. Indeed, AMD is promising 12 hours for everyday work use and up to 10 hours of video playback. AMD has already sent the processors to manufacturers, so some new products soon. The company says Lenovo and HP will deliver notebooks for the market running the new series through the second quarter of this year. Later in 2019, other OEMs will start launching laptops with the new CPUs.
